El sábado pasado, el monte Ontake, situado a menos de 200 kilómetros del circuito nipón, entró en erupción y se llevó por delante la vida de docenas de personas.
Del volcán siguen emergiendo humo, cenizas y gases tóxicos, y el periódico alemán Bild informa de que muchos de los vuelos de esta semana podrían ser cancelados por este motivo. «Los organizadores de la carrera esperan que todos los pilotos lleguen a tiempo para la primera sesión de entrenamientos libres del viernes», señaló el corresponsal Nicola Pohl.
